Competency: Change Management

Program Description

Talent development serves as a pliable platform that supports the people, processes, products, profits and community to complete great work. When challenges happen the organization can absorb, learn and evolve to increase what’s working and decrease what’s not. Taking notice of the difference when things are working and they are not working is how change happens within an organization.

What is it?

  • An experiential exploration and discussion about how change does and does not work within organizations.
  • An effort to find a difference that works in your foundational knowledge of how change happens within interactional people dependent processes.

Why does it matter?

  • As Talent Development professionals our understanding and assumptions about change impact how we support organizations to be successful, our work improves through consistent challenges to our existing knowledge through contrarian evidence.
  • Interactional people dependent processes are different from highly controllable mechanical dependent processes.

What will we do and learn?

  • A question-based coaching method to identify difference while increasing what’s working and decreasing what’s not working.
  • Experience, in a hands-on activity, how change happens in complex people dependent processes.
  • Discuss and discover how some of your existing change processes may be hurting or helping talent development.

Suggested pre-reading and videos.
