May 2013 Program Presented by NYS Department of Labor

NFASTD is delighted to welcome New York State Department of Labor (NYS DOL) to our May program.   As part of a series of programs focused on workforce development, senior staff representing the Western NY region will present an overview of programs and services available to businesses and job seekers.

Included in the program will be information on the department’s Talent Bank, Workforce Career Centers, funding opportunities, and business outreach services.  Participants will be interested to find out that many services are available at no cost to the business or job seeker.

As initially introduced in our March program, the team will also provide an update on the status of the Buffalo Niagara Skills Partnership initiative through the Regional Economic Development Council (REDC).   

The program will be presented in a panel format followed by Q&A. 

Presenter Bios:

Nancy Crosby, BSW, Ed.M.

Nancy has worked for the Department of Labor since 1992. She has worked as a Labor Services Representative, adjudicating Unemployment Insurance Claims. She has also worked several years as a Business Services Representative, providing Department of Labor Services in the WNY area. Today, she provides Human Resource Consulting and is responsible for Business Services in all 5 Western NY Counties.

Carolyn Bright, BA, Ed.M. Counseling Education

Carolyn has worked for the Department of Labor for 35 years. She has served in a variety of roles during her tenure at the Labor of Department including Employment Counselor, Senior Employment Consultant, Business Services Manager. Currently, she is the Manager of the Buffalo & Williamsville Workforce Career Centers.

Greg Corral, MS Counseling Education

Greg has been employed with the NYS Dept. of Labor for 26 years. He has functioned in the capacities of a Labor Services Representative, Employment Counselor, Occupational Analyst and currently as a Business Services Representative.  His Business Services cover Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Allegany and Cattaraugus Counties.  Of the Business Services offered by Greg, the majority of his recent efforts have been in the area of On- The- Job- Training Monies for new hires.

Cesar Cabrera, BA, MS Multidisciplinary Studies

Cesar has worked for the New York State Department of Labor for 5 years. He previously served as Assistant Director of the Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Development Consortium and served as Director of Workforce Development for City of Buffalo.  In his role as the Commissioner’s Representative in Western NY, he serves as the initial point of contact for all NYSDOL programs. Cesar oversees all economic development and intergovernmental affairs projects in the region for the department.
