By 2020, 47% of the global workforce will be made up of millennials. As these young professionals are stepping into leadership and management positions, we need to look for ways to inspire, engage, recognize, and develop this generation. According to The Hartford’s 2014 Millennial Leadership Survey, Millennials said employers can most demonstrate their investment in them as a future leader by offering training and development (50%), a clear career path (35%), and ongoing coaching and feedback (34%). Leadership is a learn-able skill and if we want the next generation to be great leaders, we have to teach them how to do it.
This session will take a look into the characteristics and recent research data of this generation, and discuss ways as learning and development practitioners, we may need to reshape, retool and change the way we look at leadership development in our organizations.
