This LGBTQ+ cultural competency training will provide concrete information and real-world examples to help create a more equal, affirming, and productive environment. This type of training helps to improve communication, create a safer space, and develop tolerance for LGBTQ+ people. Our program has the following learning objectives:
About the Pride Center:
The mission of the Pride Center is to work with the community to make Western New York a safe, healthy, and satisfying place for LGBTQ people to live, work and establish their families. The Pride Center envisions an LGBTQ community in which individuals feel safe, secure, and affirmed where they live, work, worship, and play.
About the Presenter:
Emily Bystrak, MPH (she/they) is the Engagement and Education Coordinator for the Pride Center of Western New York. Emily conducts LGBTQ+ cultural competency trainings for organizations throughout region, and coordinates social support opportunities for LGBTQ+ populations. Emily graduated from the University at Buffalo in 2021 with her Masters in Public Health, where she specialized in LGBTQ+ community health.
